Janet Vivian “Jan” Hooks (April 23, 1957 – October 9, 2014) was an American actress and comedian best known for her work on Saturday Night Live, where she was a repertory player from 1986-91, and continued making cameo appearances until 1994. Her subsequent work included a regular role on the final two seasons of Designing Women, a recurring role on 3rd Rock from the Sun and a number of other roles in film and television.

In October 2014, the band’s web site announced that Revere died “peacefully” on October 4, 2014, at his home in Idaho, a “small estate overlooking a tranquil river canyon.” Paul Revere died of cancer. He was 76.

Richard Kiel, Actor, James Bond villain Jaws, dies 74

Richard Dawson Kiel (September 13, 1939 – September 10, 2014) was an American actor known for his role of the steel-toothed Jaws in the James Bond movies The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Moonraker (1979) as well as the video game Everything or Nothing (he also had cameos in many other James Bond videogames). He was also well known as Mr. Larson in the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore, for playing the Kanamit aliens in the classic Twilight Zone episode To Serve Man and for his role of Dr. Miguelito Loveless’ assistant Voltaire in first season episodes of The Wild, Wild West (1965-1966).

Joan Alexandra Rosenberg (June 8, 1933 – September 4, 2014), known by her stage name Joan Rivers, was an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and television host, best known for her stand-up comedy, for co-hosting the E! celebrity fashion show Fashion Police, and for starring in the reality series Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? alongside her daughter Melissa Rivers.

Rivers first came to prominence in 1965 as a guest on The Tonight Show, a pioneering late-night program with interviews and comedy, hosted by Johnny Carson, whom she acknowledged as her mentor.

Jimmy Wayne “Jimi” Jamison (August 23, 1951 – August 31, 2014) was an American rock vocalist and songwriter, best known as the longtime frontman of rock bands Cobra and platinum-selling Survivor and as the voice and co-writer of the theme song for Baywatch.

Don Pardo, voice of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ dies 96

Dominick George “Don” Pardo (February 22, 1918 – August 18, 2014) was an American radio and television announcer whose career spanned over seven decades.

A member of the Television Hall of Fame, Pardo was noted for his 70-year tenure with NBC, working as the announcer for early incarnations of such notable shows as The Price Is Right, Jackpot, Jeopardy!, Three on a Match, Winning Streak and NBC Nightly News. His longest, and best-known, announcing gig was for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, a job he held for 39 seasons, from the show’s debut in 1975 until his death in 2014.

Lauren Bacall (born Betty Joan Perske; September 16, 1924 – August 12, 2014) was an American film and stage actress and model, known for her distinctive husky voice and sultry looks.

She first emerged as a leading lady in the Humphrey Bogart film To Have and Have Not (1944) and continued on in the film noir genre, with appearances in Bogart movies The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage (1947), and Key Largo (1948), as well as comedic roles in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) with Marilyn Monroe and Designing Woman (1957) with Gregory Peck. Bacall worked on Broadway in musicals, gaining Tony Awards for Applause in 1970 and Woman of the Year in 1981. Her performance in the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996) earned her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination.

In 1999, Bacall was ranked #20 of the 25 actresses on the AFI’s 100 Years… 100 Stars list by the American Film Institute. In 2009, she was selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to receive an Academy Honorary Award “in recognition of her central place in the Golden Age of motion pictures.”

Robin McLaurin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014) was an American actor and stand-up comedian. Rising to fame with his role as the alien Mork in the TV series Mork & Mindy (1978–1982), Williams went on to establish a successful career in both stand-up comedy and feature film acting. He starred in several television series over more than five decades, which included such popular roles as Bret Maverick in the 1950s western-comedy series Maverick and Jim Rockford in the 1970s detective drama The Rockford Files.

Garner starred in more than 50 films including The Great Escape (1963), Paddy Chayefsky’s The Americanization of Emily (1964), Grand Prix (1966), Blake Edwards’ Victor Victoria (1982), Murphy’s Romance (1985) for which he received an Academy Award nomination, and The Notebook (2004).

Skye McCole Bartusiak (September 28, 1992 – July 19, 2014) was an American film and television actress.

McCole Bartusiak first starred in The Patriot, starring Mel Gibson, in 2000. She later played the young Marilyn Monroe in the TV miniseries Blonde, and Don’t Say a Word alongside Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy, both in 2001. She also played the young Charlie McGee in the sequel to Firestarter, Firestarter 2: Rekindled and Megan Matheson during season two of the television series 24.

Celebrity web sites TMZ and Variety reported on July 19, 2014, that McCole Bartusiak was found dead in her apartment behind her parents’ Houston home. Variety staff said she “died in her sleep”; TMZ reported that no foul play is suspected, pending the results of toxicology tests. Her mother told CNN that the actress was found by her boyfriend, sitting up in her bed; she began CPR on her daughter before paramedics arrived, who then worked “for 45 minutes” to no avail. Helen McCole Bartusiak said Skye had recently been suffering from epileptic seizures and that this likely played a role in her death.
